INK
INDICATOR: CLI-8 In your printer properties and settings, you can
turn the ink indicator off. This way you can refill. If you
need to buy a new cartridge and still have refills in, it may
be best to turn the indicator back on, then see if it prints,
then turn it off again. The indicator is automatically turned
on when a full set of new cartridges is inserted. They have
done their best with these new models to stop re-fillers, so a
little patience is needed.
Colours
& Photo black hold 5-6ml of ink. They hold more, but if
you refill BEFORE the foam is dry, you will only need
5-6ml of ink. The reason for this is the cartridges foam must
always remain wet. Never drain every last drop out, or you may
have trouble getting them to work as the wet foams attracts
the ink like a magnet from the clear chamber. So always refill
when 10% of ink is still in the clear chamber. This will keep
the gravity level and pressure perfect.
Drill
hole must be 2mm in diameter. The syringe's needle we provide
is 1.5mm. This 2mm allows air pressure to escape as you
refill. The only secret to refill this type, is to have
patience. Refill before empty, don't over-fill thinking it
will save time. Have spares pre-filled if you need to get
printing quick. Have tape, tissue and a crew if needed ready.
Do the refill somewhere that can tolerate a few ink drops
spilt. If you do it right, you should have no spills, no leaks
and no ink on your hands. Ink can be removed with water, and a
tiny amount of bleach if you're not sensitive to it. It will
come out of clothes? If washed straight away. Yellow is the
hardest to remove.
As you can see we
provide a few methods blocking the hole you made. Use whatever
method is comfortable for you. Experienced fillers can continue
using their current method. Cartridges like the 3 & 6
series do not need to have any settings adjusted in the printer
as they have no chips on them unlike the 8 series. |
